it's so early I don't really mind the call although it's pretty marginal - I call turn and go broke and fire up another one if he hit his flush on river [/ QUOTE ] I would say the limp is marginal. Calling a 5xBB raise to play J8s HU OOP is pretty bad. |

Lead flop for 180. Fold preflop, btw.

But by leading you are giving him an excuse to get off of a lower pocket pair. Especially with the club draw, i like the check/call, check line because so many people will jam hard to get you off the draw. You know if he checks behind the turn, he has a pocket pair, and almost always pays off a value river bet. But it's a shame to shut down TT-KK here by leading the flop, IMO. |

Re: What do you think?
Eh...you could fold to the PFR. Or you could try to outplay him OOP on the flop. I don't mind either, but I have had more success in donkaments when I play ABC early and not quite as much when I try to play every hand and outplay them.
I love the weak looking (in villains mind) bet on the turn that induces his big raise. Nicely done. |

Re: What do you think?
i think we "outplay" people by knowing to fold J8s preflop.

[/ QUOTE ] Agreed...but I play in a very very pathetic NL cash game where I see a ton of flops and rake profits from a loose image and much better post-flop play. Early in micro-tourneys you often have opportunties to build a big stack from the worst post-flop players. I think this strategy would be best if online the stacks were deeper and the rounds were longer. Alas, they are not. |

Re: What do you think?
Your line is ok, but with his pfr there's a good chance he has an ace. You have 1200+ chips to get into a 270 chip pot.
Make his decision easy on all streets. Bet the flop. If you bet 180 here and he calls with an ace, the pot is 630 on the turn. If you get raised on the flop you can call and craise turn or push and hope he calls with an ace. If he calls on the flop, you now have 1000ish behind? Now you can bet 350 into the pot. You charge the draws and at this level will almost assuredly get a call from a hand like AJ. He calls and now the pot on the river is 1230. You push for 650 and he is basically forced to call getting 3-1. Build the pot, don't get fancy. |
