Default PS2 component video cable problem

I got an HD tv this weekend and a set of component video cables for my PS2. So I hooked everything up and when I go to the PS2 setup menu and switch to RGB cables the screen starts distorting and changing colors. When I move back to standard cables on the menu it works fine even though it's running through component cables.

Is there something else I need to do for the PS2 to properly recognize the component cables?

I know it seems obvious, but you are connecting them to the component jacks of your TV right? And since when do you have to go to the menu to change to component cables? There's only one AV port on a PS2.

I figured it out. It was already on the right setting and I was trying to change it to the incorrect setting.
