Final Table $20+$2 - 4/45 - is this a bad call?
Here's the situation.
BB is biggest stack UTG is medium CO is virtually broke Hero is SB and 2nd biggest stack The action is folded around to me. I'm holding JJ. BB is multi-tlabing and playing tight and aggressive. I have been stealing a lot of his blinds quite easily. I raise about 3x the BB and he shoves. I call with the reasoning that a. I have a good hand against his possible range b. he might just be playing back at me. He shows AJo and flops an Ace. Although 4th place paid, 3rd paid 50% more. Should I have folded and waited for the CO to be blinded out? |

Re: Final Table $20+$2 - is this a bad call?
Depends on whether the 50% extra is increasing your bankroll significantly, or not. I always aim for 1st when I get this far and wouldn't mind a gamble against big stack. This was just bad luck, and I'm sure you wouldn't have made the post had you won this hand, right?

yes, its obviously a bad call getting it in as a 70/30 favorite with the chance of getting a near invincible stack to run the rest of the table over with.
cmon dude, wtf. |

MTT's are different than SNG's....in sng's the payout structure is so flat that you aim for the money and wait out shortstacks...however in MTT's you have to always aim for first because its so much more money than anything else. good play bad luck.

two things...he has been laying aggressive but letting you steal his blinds...he is probably getting frustrated and making a stand...you got it in as a huge favorite which can never be a bad thing...I know that there is a crippled stack out there and a lot of paeople advocate waiting but I personally can't let this edge go

cEV & $EV have definitely diverged but this is waay to +cEV for it not to be +$EV.

I know that there is a crippled stack out there and a lot of people advocate waiting but I personally can't let this edge go [/ QUOTE ] OP, before you post another hand (and I absolutely encourage that you keep posting here), ask yourself if you would have posted the hand if you had won the pot. These forums are at their best when the collective ability/and experience of its participants can work toward solving a problem, not consoling someone over getting unlucky. Correct play, bad result, blah blah blah. |
