I was talking to a complete stranger and I noticed he was wearing a gold bracelet. I asked him about it and it was a WSOP bracelet he won in 1985.

I gotta say I was very impressed, I was asking him all kinds of questions about how he won it.

Turns out Doyle Brunson was at his final table.

Having a bracelet really is a big deal, you will have it for the rest of your life and people will respect you for it.

Hell I was so impressed with the fact he had a WSOP bracelet that I gave him a few extra bucks for shining my shoes.

Being a woman, the title. I can get WAY more then what 1st place is worth in endorsements alone.

Alot of ppl are under this impression but I hate to say that in this poker economy I do not think there are any sites itching to pay "WAY" more than 8-12 mil to sponsor a female champion.

I could be wrong but I think that if first place is a title and second place is 8-12 mil, then it would still be better for a woman to take the cash. Second place would still garner a lot of sponsorship interest and also I do not think that a woman could command a huge sum unless she is attractive on top of being a champion.

I dunno, just seems like sponsorship opportunities have plummeted and there is no real evidence that females are a viable customer target considering their lack of participation thus far.

The money, ldo. Everybody who plays poker for "death and glory" does it for the wrong reasons imo.

If I was on a final table HU for a prizepool of 1 million with Hellmuth and he would make an offer like: "You get all the money, but plz let me "win" the bracelet!" and I were not a 4:1 chipleader I'd take the money in a second.
Plus I don't have to listen to his whining.

We actually had a discussion about how much the bracelet was worth, like how much money you would be willing to give up to have won one.

Somewhere between 50-100k was our answer.

This was all among people who've won more than that in poker overall though, so that probably biases it.

When I first started playing and had a small bankroll, I thought bracelets were a joke and anyone who said they'd take it over the money was an idiot. I think when you get to a certain point, the money just becomes less important.
