QQ facing strong UTG raise
Hi,
This is one of my first posts on 2+2, so please be gentle. I would appreciate your thoughts on this situation. Latter stages of a $10+$1 MTT. I am dealt QQ in the CO. I have a little over $12K and M=6. I am slightly above the average stack. UTG has just joined the table and has me easily covered. He raises to $6,000. It's folded around to me. Hero? Do you agree that this looks like a tough difficult push/fold decision? My thinking here is that I can conserve my chips for a better situation and UTG raise 6xBB means that I am likely behind. Am I wrong to lean towards folding? |

Re: QQ facing strong UTG raise
I'm pretty suprised you even consider folding, this really is an instant push.
You have an M of 6, you don't have time to wait for a better situation, but that's beside the point, you have qq, the 3rd best hand in poker, and you are considering folding after 1 player has acted??? This is very very weak very bad poker. Online I very, very rarely fold qq pre-flop. I would have to see a raise UTG, a re-raise, and a re-re-raise before I even thought about it. Just because you see 1010, jj and AQ/AK as often as you see kk,aa. Also, he raises 6*BB UTG, what makes you think this is a strong bet? If he has AA or KK, he'd want to be called. You useually see this hand betting anywere between 2-5 BBs. 6 tells me, I have a good hand, but I'ma little scared to play it UTG, which means 1010, JJ, QQ, AQ, AK, and not AA or KK. Against this range you are a big favourite, and should be more than happy to get your chips in. |

Re: QQ facing strong UTG raise
Hello Pugwash,
welcome to the forum :-) This is an easy insta-push for me!! IŽll never fold QQ with an M of 6. You are by far in no comfortable situation and have to be eager to double up and this could easily be a wonderful situation. Villain could easily have a range of 88+,AJs+,KQs,AQo+,KQo. Against this range you are a huge favourite: Hand 0: 38.605% 37.65% 00.95% 282386808 7144722.00 { 88+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+, KQo } Hand 1: 61.395% 60.44% 00.95% 453312900 7144722.00 { QQ } And why are you expecting to be behind when Villain raises 6xBB? This looks more like a smaller PP to me - or would you raise 6BB with AA? => Get it all in and start dancing . |

Re: QQ facing strong UTG raise
You've got to be thrilled to pickup QQ in this spot, with an M of 6 it's an insta-push. Heck I would be pushing JJ and 10 10 here just the same, you just can't wait for another spot with an M of 6. You have to let your M make this decision for you, makes life much easier at the tables, LOL!
