The Beatles - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". Ridiculous that it's on the list. One of their most fun songs.

[/ QUOTE ] qft

At least the ridiculous part. This song makes me really sad, so I can't agree with the fun part.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sad!? That's like the happiest song of all time!

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, wtf. That song is happy both in sound and lyric.

Perhaps he has some negative association with it.

Daniel Powter, "Bad Day" - what the [censored] is this [censored]?

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT this might be the worst song ever. It's one of the few songs that's so bad that I can't even really block it out of my mind if it's playing in the background. It's so bad that I've started going to Chipotle instead of Qdoba even though I like Qdoba's food better b/c it's on Qdoba's playlist and it might be playing and if it is it will (ironically) ruin my day.

[/ QUOTE ]

This didn't get enough love

[/ QUOTE ]

I like the song because I associate it with

Tuff Fish

and I laugh, though if there aren't tuff fish soundbites I can't listen to it

I'm not sure how you could put "My Body Is a Wonderland" and not put "Big Yellow Taxi" by Counting Crows

[/ QUOTE ]

agree 100%. i used to work at a restaraunt that had this soung playing every hour or something.
total mental torture. sometimes when this song was on, the manager would come by whistling this song with a big smile on his face. i wanted to punch him in it...

I stayed at the Monte Carlo during last year's WSOP, and I'm pretty sure their background music consisted entirely of this song, "Torn", "One of Us", and "Wake Me Up When September Ends".

You guys fell for it. You're all talking about Blender's list. I bet some of you even clicked the link to their website.

"The Sound of Silence" wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]

Somebody at the meeting must have said "Let's put a really good song on the list that nobody would ever believe actually belongs there. That'll ensure people talk about it."

We Built this city rocks. I'm going to find it now and play it really loud, and sing along with it to piss off my neighbors.

Hello Grandpa my old friend
Your pointless day is at an end.
And your stories are long and boring
You tell anecdotes worth ignoring
Your withered voice echoes around yet again
I'm in pain, the sound of grandpa

This stuff will get debated ad nauseum, but as far as really terrible hits go, I nominate:

Eve6, "Inside Out" - horrible
Semisonic, "Closing Time" - an abomination
Third Eye Blind, "Jumper" - sucks
Daniel Powter, "Bad Day" - what the [censored] is this [censored]?
James Blunt, "Beautiful" - might as well cut his dick off
Nickelback, "Photograph" - embarrassing

[/ QUOTE ]

wow, I totally and exactly agree with you on every point.
these are some of the worst songs ever written, sad part is some of my friends love these songs.

said before but, WTF? THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE? THE END? How retarded could you be?

[/ QUOTE ]

Same here, all of those songs make me want to puke. But one song that actually does make me puke just thinking of it is Mr. Blobby. For anyone fortunate enough to not live in the UK and have never heard this, you are truly lucky. In fact there are dozens and dozens of songs in this ilk that are far, far worse than any of the songs on that list of 50.

Kids should not be allowed to listen to this type of music.

Lists like this are pointless and are meant to be controversial and spark the sort of debate you all are having. A lot of those songs were just overplayed to death but are still quality. A few that I was particularly annoyed with having on the list...

48. The Beatles - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" 1968
26. The Doors - "The End" 1967
21. Spin Doctors - "Two Princes" 1992
12. The Beach Boys - "Kokomo" 1988
10. Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder - "Ebony and Ivory" 1982

I don't particularly care for these songs per se, but they're good songs regardless.
