Default First hand of a final, fold AJ on the button....?

I play poker in a league and we have a final each month, this was the very first hand...

3,000 chips first blind level a nice easy 25 / 50

it's folded round to me on the button with AJ. I raise to 300 and get re-raised by the BB to 800.

I call, flop comes out 8s Js 8c. I without hesitation push all-in. To me this was the best flop i could hope for. He would never have re-raised me with an 8. So unless I'm sat against QQ KK or AA I must surely have the best of it.

He calls me and turns over As Ks - flush draw. Which he hits on the river.

Now I know my poker and so does he (we've played before) But should he really have called me with around a 30% draw without the odds to?

Or other opinions are maybe I should have thrown away my AJ to threat of domination which is a possibility but I was in position...

Stove it, its probably closer than what you think. And if you insta push flop, it probably made his decision easier.

so you should think a little, and then push, so that he folds flush draws?

I know strategy doesn't belong here but you didn't play a single part of this hand correctly beginning with the 6x preflop raise.

not true. the part where he raises the button then shoves first to act on the flop is expert.

Pot commitment is what I'm thinking of.
He wouldn't call this from any other guy.
