I believe you are looking for UXGA if you want 1200 x 1600+.

IBM Thinkpad T60 2623DDU. Hard to find as they're discontinued, but best laptop LCD panel ever made @ 1600x1200.

Re: I want to 4 Table on a Laptop-but want something small
Dell told me that the best that inspiron does is 1080 x 1600
is that going to be suficient for 4 tabling. The other choice is a lattitude it does 1200x1600 however its much more pricey than the inspiron. Does anyone have a Inspiron that can tell me if its sufficient for 4 tables on Party/Stars?? |

Re: I want to 4 Table on a Laptop-but want something small
You need 1200 x 1600 to 4-table without overlap or resizing. However, 1080's only 20% overlap vertically, so I guess it depends how important that is to you. Then there's always resizing.

Re: I want to 4 Table on a Laptop-but want something small
The problem is all laptop manufacturers are going widescreen due to market demand. 4:3 screens are out and the only model that I know that supports the full UXGA resolution is the Thinkpad I mentioned above. I mention that it's "outdated" because it only has a Core Duo instead of the newer Core 2 Duos. At best they're only a 10-15% improvement clock-for-clock in very specific applications. The other components are fully up to date.
I've only found two places that still sell them: http://www.onsale.com/shop/detail.aspx?d...mc_id=BWBNEXTAG http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/deta...ook%20Computers The other option is to buy a T60 from Lenovo directly and swap out the panel, though I'm not sure if you want to do this. Edit: Another benefit you should consider is that the panel is also an IPS panel, and one of the last few remaining ones. I find them much easier on my eyes and they also tend to be much brighter, especially if I'm coding/playing for long hours. That also translates to much higher battery consumption. |

Re: I want to 4 Table on a Laptop-but want something small
For some reason, Dell no longer offers the WUXGA (1920x1200) panel for the 15.4" Inspiron any longer. But if you want to stick with Dell, you can get a Dell Inspiron 6400 and buy a WUXGA panel from eBay (about $225). Make sure if you do, it comes with the inverter or you are screwed. Lenovo makes the T60p with 1600x1200 resolution. This will be your thinnest and most elegant solution. If you want widescreen, but thinnest is the Lenovo Z61p. Coming in 2nd is the Alienware 15.4".
Gotta stay away from 17-inchers. They are damn near portable workstations. |
