Default I Could Listen to Joe Satriani for Hours

Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Steve Vai

I knew Satriani taught Kirk Hammett (Metallica; one of my favorite bands) to play, but never listened to any of his stuff till recently.

He's good. Strange Beautiful Music is an awesome album, I recommend it.

The G3 shows range from pretty sweet to kinda gay.

BTW he also taught the fgt from Counting Crows, and whatever + points he gets for teaching KH are mitigated by this.

Yeah, I think you'd have to listen for hours to get through one of his songs.

I was expecting a LOT when I got his first album, because the build-up was so huge about this guy. Then when I got it, it just seemed like a bunch of heavy metal noodling, much like so much I'd heard before and would undoubtedly hear over and over again. It was very hard to try to listen to it a second time, and I gave up after that.

I don't get how anyone could listen to this for long amounts of time - very boring to me. Dude plays fast. cool.

I haven't spent a lot of time listening to these guys but I've never really liked virtuousos very much. they don't seem to have a lot of songwriting talent. it's like their rhythm sections are just backdrops to their solos. I dunno. not my thing.
