Live 200/400 Set
200/400 Live
3:30am wild game. 5 or 6 to each flop for 2 or 3 bets. 4 awful players (including hijack and button), only one other good player. button is old drunk guy who calls out his hand (and tells the truth). I am UTG with 9h9c i raise 2 calls, hijack 3 bets, button calls blinds call. 7 of us see the flop. flop 8h7c,2h i bet, fold, call, hijack calls, button calls (announcing he has 2 pair), sb folds, bb folds. turn 9s because the button said he has 2 pair, i check, checked to button who as expected bets, i raise, hijack calls 2 cold, button calls. river Kh. I bet, hijack raises, button calls, me...... |

Re: Live 200/400 Set
I don't like to advocate taking the "pot is huge-call" line too much, but this seems like a pretty good spot for it. 22 bets in the pot, and you got raised by an awful player. I think you're good better than the 4.5% you need to be. I'd need some pretty compelling description of the guy, beyond simply "awful," to do anything else.

Re: Live 200/400 Set
i clearly call this horrible opponent, even with button (mr. 2 pair) callling. i thought about raising, he had 3 bet 3 preflop and could easily raise the river with AKo, or AA. but the possibility of AXh, a set of Kings (althought i think i would have seen more action earlier), or a st8, all make me lean towards just calling.
i think everyone would lead the river here even with the heart hitting? |

Re: Live 200/400 Set
Yeah by pot is huge- I call, I meant pot is huge- I JUST call. You really don't want to get capped. Do you think he raises AK or AA, even after button announced his 2 pair? (I take it they don't know each other?) I'd think Axh is by far the most likely, and the KK and JT move it further to a call.
Yeah I'd lead the river anyway, especially since you'll probably get an overlay from button, even if CO raises. |

Re: Live 200/400 Set
I dont know what all this discussion is about call vs fold. Folding is impossible here - its 3bet vs call.
I am leaning toward a 3 bet here. Looks like AK to me sine he is a terrible player. KK cant really only call the flop and then check the turn. The flush is possible of course so it is close. My gut would tell me to 3 bet this, but that is of course pretty read dependant (would be crazy vs an average player). I definitely lead the river as u did. |

Re: Live 200/400 Set
this is about a 100 times higher than i play, but is check raising the flop to protect your hand a good play? seems like betting that flop just lets everyone peel, unless you were hoping for bet/3bet

Re: Live 200/400 Set
I would just call the river.
Also, if the button has two pair...BET THE TURN! He will almost always raise anyway unless he thinks you take him 100% seriously, and then you can 3 bet the field! Also, is it that every hand you play you get a said. I prolly play 500 hands/hr and i couldn't post as many set hands as you do! |

Re: Live 200/400 Set
if the hijack is raising it means he can beat the button's 2 pair, which isnt good news for you...so just call
