Default Bankroll?

Need some help. I play 100nl online and keep a bankroll of 30 buy ins. I have been moderately succesful and am comfortable with this bank, my question is I want to start mixing in some live play at foxwoods and was wondering if it makes sense to buy in the 1-2 game with just 100. I don't want to play the full 300 and just have ten buy ins. Can this game be played effectively with this size stack?

In general (extreme cases where you're buying in for 20bbs or 300 bbs will vary) what you buy in for will not affect you BR requirements. If you want 30 BIs for this game you should consider a BI 100bbs whether you actually buy in for 150 or for 50 bbs.

That said, live play is much worse than online, and if you are a winner at 100NL online you shouldn't have much trouble with a live 1/2 game. Your win rate will be higher than online, and your variance will be lower, which means that for your acceptable level of risk the number of BIs you "need" will be lower.

Without actually figuring out what your BR should be, I would guess off the cuff that the 15 100bb Buy-ins you have for this game is enough to start taking shots at it. I'd buy in for $200, and if I lost a few buy-ins I'd quit playing until I can build up my roll to where I was comfortable, then come back and try again.

Thanks I was thinking about that also but although I don't play for a living I am very protective of my roll but 2 hundred sounds like a good place to start hadn't thought about the lower variance, appreciate the input.

The few times I have played the 1/2 NL game at Foxwoods, I have always bought in for $150. I'm not the best NLHE player in the world, but I have NEVER had a losing session in that 1/2 game, and you really don't need more than $150 if you're a tight player - winning one hand will set you for quite a while at those tables.

$100 should be sustainable; just don't go chasing draws like every single person at that table and you might be able to double or triple up real quick. Your big hands - no matter how tight you play - will almost always get paid off. No one folds.

im a reg and always buy in for 200 as well as reload up to 200 or alittle more if need be. 100 is too little. 200 is perfect

A live bankroll can be significantly less than an online one. I would never bust a $3000 bankroll at 1/2nl buying in for $300 at a time. 10 buyins is plenty in most situations... B&M is just that juicy.

agreed. If you're beating $100NL online, then just buy in for $300 and don't worry about it...you'll be fine.

disclaimer...

live is very different from online. if you try and play at FW like you would at 100nl online you WILL get crushed. 6-10BB pf raise = standard, dont need to cbet pot, cbets will be looked up by any 2 for no reason,

in other words its going to play like a 25NL FR game so just be aware
