Re: Beat: had sleep paralysis this night
Sleep paralysis sucks and you can definitely get it without doing any drugs (I don't really do drugs anymore but I get sleep paralysis somewhat often). Basically your mind is semi-awake but not synched up with your nervous system, because it kind of "turns off" when you sleep so that you don't act out your dreams. So you are semi-concious but you think you are fully awake - you can't move and some people hallucinate during this period, sometimes seeing something holding them down (cuz they can't move). For some reason I get this a TON in the car, and when I try to get back to sleep I keep getting it...ugh.

Re: Beat: had sleep paralysis this night
Its no big deal Ive had it many times and never from doing drugs. It seems to happen more often if I am sleeping in a car. ITs just your brain waking up before you body. The first few times it happens it is SOOOOOOO SCARY. You wake up and can not move.
When this happens just try to relax and recognize what is going on. You are not going to die just give your body 10-25 seconds to wake up. Its no big deal. It still sucks when it happens but I relize what is going on and I keep my cool much better. I havent had it in about a year or so. It seems like I will get it a few times in a row and then not for a very long time. I wonder why sleeping in the car does that. I have totaly noticed this. It is much more common in the car. |

Re: Beat: had sleep paralysis this night
I get it when I sleep on my stomach- definitely feels like I can't breath.
The first time the damn woman saw it she thought the eyes fluttering to the back of my head and gasping for air was just a bad dream, and didn't want to shock me by waking me. Once we made it clear I rather not feel like I'm going to die for 5 minutes, everything has been great. |

Re: Beat: had sleep paralysis this night
This happened to me once, but it was when I was trying to fall asleep. I heard a noise kind of like a car driving by outside, but it slowly got louder with less time inbetween until it was really loud and nonstop and my heart was pounding in unison. Then I opened my eyes and saw a black shadowy thing hovering over me and I couldn't move or scream.
I realized this was sleep paralysis and demons weren't holding me down, but it deffinately felt like there was some type of entity in the room screwing with me and enjoying my fear. So I closed my eyes, tried to relaxe and control my breathing, and the noises started to get quieter with more space between until they were gone and I could move again. BEAT |

Re: Beat: had sleep paralysis this night
This has never happened to me. Is it weird that it sounds like a really cool experience that I would try if I had the choice? Being physically paralyzed while having a crazy lucid dream and hallucinating sounds like it would be intense.
