Default First PLO/8 seesion

Is it correct to raise this hand preflop? How much should I bet on flop? What about turn? I'm a total novice and probably messed every street up huh?

I am not crazy about that starting hand and if I'm going to play it at all I'll usually limp in with it in late position.

Consider also that even if you catch your king on the flop and have the current nuts as you did there you may be an underdog <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre> http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3886236
pokenum -o8 ks kc 4c 8c - qs js 9d 7d -- kd ts 8s
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts 8s Kd
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
Ks Kc 8c 4c 301 301 519 0 0 0 0 0.367
Qs Js 9d 7d 519 519 301 0 0 0 0 0.633 </pre><hr />

However, change a couple of your cards to give you nut flush and low draws and it makes a big difference
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre> http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3886554
pokenum -o8 ks kc as 2c - qs js 9d 7d -- kd ts 8s
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts 8s Kd
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
As Ks Kc 2c 500 500 320 0 144 0 0 0.643
Qs Js 9d 7d 266 320 500 0 0 0 0 0.357

</pre><hr />

Here is your top set with nut flush and Broadway redraws <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3886579
pokenum -o8 ks kc as jc - qs js 9d 7d -- kd ts 8s
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts 8s Kd
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
As Ks Kc Jc 558 558 254 8 0 0 0 0.685
Qs Js 9d 7d 254 254 558 8 0 0 0 0.315 </pre><hr />

On the turn, of course, it might be the set of kings that are an even bigger underdog than what I displayed in the first code example, drawing to the full house or quads.
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3886612
pokenum -o8 ks kc 4c 8c - qs js 9d 7d -- kd ts 8s 7h
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 40 enumerated boards containing Ts 8s Kd 7h
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
Ks Kc 8c 4c 8 8 32 0 0 0 0 0.200
Qs Js 9d 7d 32 32 8 0 0 0 0 0.800</pre><hr />

Like I said, I play this type hand very carefully because I tend to either win smallish pots or lose large ones. When I fall in love with the top set and have no redraws to a low, straight, or flush in addition to the obvious FH or quad draw I have ended up regretting it. Just my $.02.

Thanx for your answer beernutz.

I'm a SH LHE player so limping pf isn't really a part of my repertoar and folding two kings aren't either. Thats something to work on for sure.

I see your point, that the starting hand need more options than just a big pair to have good equity.

What if my starting hand was something like K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is that a decent preflop hand?

that's a pretty terrible starting hand, just fold pf. What are you trying to flop? KK42 is certainly better.

Fold preflop, rest of hand is fine, learn how to spell "repertoar".

Comments on my game is appreciated. Comments on my spelling is also appreciated but if you provide the correct way to spell words I get wrong it would be even better. English is a really hard language to learn. There is simply no correlation between the way you pronounce and spell a word.

repertoire... hard to spell cuz it's FRENCH
i'm with beernutz, KK and 2 middle cards would only be worth a late position limp [the K8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] only gives 2nd nut flush].
u handled the flop and turn bets good tho.

to enjoy an success in O8 games you need to realize O8 and PLO8 is much more of a post-flop game than hold 'em, and abandon many of your hold em concepts. in O8, you should generally consider starting hands suchas a pair of Kings, Queens, Jacks, etc as simply DRAWING HANDS. AA unimproved loses quite often also in multiwaypots.

good luck.

You know that if you borrow words from other languages you are allowed to change the spelling? We do that all the time in Sweden and it's makes life easier for us

I get what you're saying davebreal. Thou I think limit Hold'em is a postflop game but it seems to be quite a different type of action.

BTW Do you guys play this game on Full tilt? How many tables can you play without the help of hand description? I can barely play one at the moment...
