Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
Some background: I have a 8000 bankroll at the moment, and like to play 1/2 and 2/5 NL live. I recently started playing online but keep that bankroll seperate now that I've made 20 buy ins online.
For live at the 1/2 NL I buy in for the max, but going by the 20 buy in rule, I buy in for $400 at the 2/5 game. My friend says that Greenstein and another pro recomend either max buying every game, or min buying game; you either want to be the short stack or the big stack, never anything in between. Any thought on whether this is good or poor bankroll management? |

Re: Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
lol you can get away with like 10-15buyins for live 1/2, 2/5
they are soooooooooooooooo much softer and passive |

Re: Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
These games aren't at casinos. They're very tough.

Re: Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
Why are you playing in very tough 1/2 and 2/5 live games?

Re: Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
Yeah, game selection is more important than bankroll management. What's the max buy for the $2/5 game? I played in one here with a $800 max buy in, and was definitely under rolled. If it's $500, though, you should be able to play that sometimes if you're also playing $1/2 regularly. Provided that you're a winning player (otherwise your RoR is 100%ish) you should have 20 buy ins for $2/5 soon enough.

Re: Min buy/Max buy and bankroll management
Thanks for the reply. The max buy in begins at 500 but after 3 hours the max buy in becomes the average stack on the table. I'm currently averaging about 1500 a month playing 1/2 so I'm hoping to have enough to have a full buy in at 2/5, but I've been having to dip into my poker account because my bank account is going down
