I\'m a new poker dealer.
Don't know if this is the right place to post or not but here goes.
I just completed dealing school in tunica miss. Problem is that down here the market is pretty saturated. Tunica has only 5 or 6 casino's that spread poker. Only four of the casino's have more than ten tables. I want to hear from some of the dealers on here that can throw this dog a bone. My plan is/was to start dealing with the curcuit events and travel. Problem is that they are staffed until the series starts in vegas. Being new in the industry I need to know how to get my foot in the door. If any of you guys know some places that are friendly to "green" guys like myself please drop a line or ten. I don't want to sound like a total fish---I've been playing for ten plus yrs and have run a game for nearly four. Thanks in advance for everything. |

Re: I\'m a new poker dealer.
You should be commended for learning how to deal with only 3 fingers.
Lame attempt at humor. If you get this reference then you obviously know way to much about baseball history. |

How do you shuffle with just 3 fingers?
Good luck. |

Re: I\'m a new poker dealer.
I was going to make an original and witty 3 finger joke.
Looks like I'm a bit late. Mordecai, there are a couple or Tunica dealers/floor people who surf around here so I'm sure they'll have some ideas for you. Hollywood is obviously the beginnerish place so maybe that's a place to start if you don't know anybody? Grand has generally been deemed to be not such a hot place due to management. I never had a problem playing there. But a couple of 2+2'ers who worked there will probably advise you to stay away. Otherwise I offer no real suggestions but I do wish you good luck. |

[/ QUOTE ] Actually I would recommend the Grand. Expereince is not needed and appears to be discouraged. |

Re: I\'m a new poker dealer.
I hear the tourney circuit dealers are like carnies. So the three fingers should work out well. Make sure you pick up a meth habit.

[/ QUOTE ] I went to school in July, got my license in January and started dealing at a tournament and ended up staying in the rotation. I think that is good way to get hired as a dealer, just get to know some of the floor people well too. Once the casino sees you can actually deal there going to want to keep you on the schedule. |

Re: I\'m a new poker dealer.
Thanks micro for some tidbits of info.
I was actually thinking of making a trip to vegas to see what I could get going. Tunica is pretty dry. My only real option here is waiting for the next series of tourneys to come in this summer and hope I can get going with them. Waiting isn't the option I want to take. M. |

Re: I\'m a new poker dealer.
Since you want to travel anyway, maybe try starting out in in California. I know that the Bicycle Casino has low standards for dealers, especially in the small stakes area and anything dealing with No Limit. They also run two major tournaments a year.
