Although I respect JMAN's game, I think he went in there with the wrong mindset.(Make money vs putting on a good show)

He's on TV and JMAN can certainly afford to bluff off $50K and look like a total stud on national tv -- atleast, I would've! Put on a show baby, and you definately get invited back!

Forgetting about his play, he came off pretty bad personality wise. When DN was trying to make conversation and joke a little with him he looked like wanted to crawl under his hat and hide. He seemed kind of aloof like he thought he was too good to even be there, except he didn't do anything to prove it.

The first part is right about DN joking. Just retort with something like 'Would you like to take up that job instead of Poker? It has no swings and pays more ...' Instead, he was like 'Thank you and hide under the hat'. JMan has played live before in front of cameras, and I don't understand why he was so up tight.

I wish one of these 'Online stars' play like the (supposedly) big boys and size up every one.

I think Antonious does it pretty well. He's respected live and online.

Other than that:
All of you talk from a poker-perspective.
I thought they way he played was boring. Everyone was making fun of Bob Stupak in season 1, now Jman plays the same way.
I can understand why he played that way, he didnt know anyone of them (at least i think he didnt), and didnt want to gamble too much.

Hopefully he'll be invited a second time and show that he can be a good TV poker player.

Other than that, i can understand the producers. Imagine all of the players at the table were like Jman, nobody would watch the show, except all the true poker players (most of the people on this board). Everyone else in the states would hate it, because it would look akward.

my guess is that a lot of these players had pieces of each other and split the profits afterwards.

[/ QUOTE ]
There might be some truth to that.

No way did Hellmuth just grow those pair of balls.

[/ QUOTE ]
Hellmuth seems to be underestimated by everyone on this board - can you really fluke 11wsop braclets - the recent ones earned by beating a lot of these 'great' internet players.
And yeah - a lot of players buy in to most of the holdem events in WSOP - they just dont win.

We can talk about this forever but first impression is everything.
Last year BT passed the test but this JMan dude failed miserably.
Came across as a Nit and a Nerd with no social skills what-so-ever.
Even his biggest fan or groupies or rail-birds..whatever you call those silly kids can not deny this.
And the fact that it looks like this is getting to him and this whining thread he started is just gonna fuel the irresistible urge that people have to needle Pros.

The guy came to play on TV with very wrong mindset.
HSP is NOT a poker instructional video...it is a poker SHOW made for entertainment.
If I want to watch and analyze JMan`s poker skills I can do that online.
The only reason you would want to show yourself on TV playing poker is for advertising purposes.
And advertisement costs money bud.
It pretty much means LAGing it up for few hours and showing off your social skills.
Good luck.
