Default Help me choose a new beer

I'm at this stage in my life now in which I'm finally beginning to enjoy beer. I was never into beer when I was younger mostly because I couldn't stand the way that it tasted. It tasted like piss to me. I now realize that's because all I was introduced to was crappy cheap beer.

So please help me choose a new beer OOT, one for a novice beer enthuaist.

My current beer is Newcastle.

My best friend bought me one at a bar and I've been ordering them ever since. I also enjoy Dos XX lager and Shiner Bock.

So given those three beers... OOT, if you would please indulge me....

Thank you

Just explore the space of the Brown Ales, the Nut Brown Ales, the Scotch ales and the English ales. I mean really explore the space.

Also, my recommendation here would be Brooklyn Brown if you're anywhere near NY. It's a really solid brown ale, esp. for the price. It's much better than Newcastle.

There's just a whole bunch of crap in that thread that will confuse OP. He's looking to expand from XX, Shiner and Newcastle.
