Default String Bet Free Card Play

Just thought of this while playing one day. If you're playing limit in LP and flop a situation where a player to your right bets the free card play is a good option for you - what about saving a small bet and just awkardly string betting?

I assume this may work in NL or spread limit too. Might use it selectively against a newbie to the room or game.

Has anyone ever seen, done or considered this? Is it too underhanded?

And nobody calls you on your string raise and the noob you tried to take advantage of 3-bets and leads the turn.

Try learning how to play poker.

well...I don't recommend angle shooting, but I think the best way to do this would be to throw an oversized chip in and say nothing. When you get your change, say "wait I wanted to raise." This may get you a free card against a newbie, but its pretty shady and has limited value.

I'm a big fan of string betting for a free turn card as opposed for raising for one. And betting out of turn so I can get checked to and then check behind.

You're starting to think like an angle-shooter.

Someday soon you may try more sophisticated plays like asking "How much can I raise to?" before it's your turn hoping to get checked to and check behind.

This might fly once before even the newest of newbies caught on and got pretty bent over it. It's'a blatant angle shot and i certainly wouldnt tolerate it. The bet you might save would not be worth the likely backlash.

I guarantee you would not get away with this where i work, at [name of corporation withheld]. Action out of turn may be binding and will be binding at my table if you bet out of turn and then try to check behind. Plus you may feel a sharp pain in the groin as you are kicked in the nuts.
