anyone know anything about this other than that FTP pulled out? Are there sats anymore? is there a guarantee? is the casino reputable? Anyone going? etc, any and all information

I have no idea whether it's ok to post this link or not, but here's the most official looking website I could find...unfortunately not a hell of a lot of info, but it doesn't look like much of a tourney Moscow Millions

A couple other things I've seen that are not official and may be rumors, but may not, are that the field is capped at 150 people and they expect it to fill up. However, the super sat the day before makes me think that maybe interest hasn't been as high as they are hoping.

I have a meeting in the evening with the organizers of the event as they want me to work as an announcer/live commentator during the event. So if you have any questions, post them here - I will be here reading for an hour.

As far as I know it will be a pretty small tournament, even 150 participants will be a surprise for me. Recent 3K event had 66 participants, so I expect around 100 here. The casino is fine, and of course all the comments about "Russia is dangerous" in the other thread are just rubbish...

Edit: Jeff, if you come, you'll be one of the top favourites for sure [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I can't think about more than 3-5 Russian players of your level...

yeah, seriously, pretty much my thoughts on the subject.

if you do win any $ in the tourney you'll probably have it ganked before you even leave the casino.

EC, you are one of the best posters here. It's hilarious when you're writing stuff like this. Believe me, there is no big difference between Moscow and London nowadays. I haven't been to the US, so I can't think about some American city...

i haven't been to Moscow so i'm not speaking from personal experience but i do have a lot of family in that part of the world including an uncle who does a lot of business in Russia. when i told him i played poker he became very disappointed and worried, and begged me to immediately cash out my winnings and stop playing before i had my money taken. he was absolutely convinced that there was no way a casino/casino owners could be anything but shady gangsters (and he is a very smart, well traveled business man). i had to explain to him it doesn't work like that and it wasn't until my mother assured him i was doing it safe that he believed me.

if you are really telling me that casinos in Moscow are safe and that flash action jeff walking around in his expensive clothes won't get beaten up/killed walking the streets then i might be willing to change my mind.

and btw i have no clue what Moscow=London=Detroit is supposed to mean [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] i have been to both London and Detroit dozens of times and they are nothing alike.
