Default Just how much?

I've been lurking these forums for a bit, and I'v picked up a lot of information, but there's one thing I'm not quite clear on: How much is a "Big Bet?" I get that bb/hr means big bets an hour, but how much is a big bet considered to be?
Edit: To clear up any confusion, I'm referring to no imit, not limit. Sorry about that.

Whatever the big bet is for the limit you're playing on.

If you're playing $1/$2 limit, $2 is the 'big bet'. If you're playing $10/$20 limit, $20 is the 'big bet'. Same would go for any fixed limit. It is always the 2nd number in the stakes game.

I'm not an NL cash specialist but I believe for NL, BB is big blinds an hour, but I could be wrong or the big bet is considered the big blind.

From everything I've read they said that it's not Big Blinds, but rather big bets. I always thought it was big blinds, which made a win rate of 3 bb/100 sound rather unimpressive.

It is big bets for limit games, I do know that for sure.

I'm pretty sure a BB in NL is just considered the big blind, but may also be called big bet.

"Question: BB/100, BB/hr, what is this? Answer: BB/100 = "Big bets per 100 hands played" BB/hr = "Big bets per hour"

Note: This is big bets NOT big blinds. There's a big difference.

The first, BB/100, is used by PokerTracker to indicate how many big bets you're winning per 100 hands played according to the hands in its database. Since the number of hands played in an hour vary, and since the software knows exactly how many hands you've played, the "per 100" baseline is used to normalize your results.

The second measure, BB/hr, is generally used when playing in a live card room. Since you play many fewer hands live, and since you're probably not going to sit there and count how many hands you're actually playing, the "per hour" baseline is used to normalize your results.

After a little digging, as I am not a NL specialist, NL winrates are determined by PTBB/100 (Poker Tracker Big Blind). PTBB = 2xBB for any level you're playing. The desired winrate is about 7-8 PTBB/100. So, if you're playing $1/$2 no limit, you're PTBB/100 $28-$32/100 hands.

Hope that clears it up for ya.

Big bets are exclusively limit game based.

Oooh okay, thanks a lot. I'm horrible with the search feature. I tried looking around, but I couldn't find anything.

So, what's the difference? Is it just 2xBB as in JSmith2007's post?

Its the big bet amount (in limit parlance). If you are playing 10/20 limit the blinds are 5/10, but the big bet is 20. PT was came about in a time when limit dominated. As there is not big bet amount in NL - the designers settled in 2x the big blind amount (which is consistent with the limit definition of a big bet).
