Re: Are Extended Service Plans for Electronics Ever Worth It?
You should also remember that most good credit cards will offer some sort of extended protection (mine doubles the manufacturer's warranty) if you use the card to purchase the item.

Re: Are Extended Service Plans for Electronics Ever Worth It?
Well I've never bought one in my life, and this thread isn't presuading me to do otherwise. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being narrow-minded.
I'll verify the manufacturer deal and likely skip the ESP. I'll bump the thread when it breaks the day after warranty expiration. |

Re: Are Extended Service Plans for Electronics Ever Worth It?
My laptop has broken a few times since I bought it. I carry it back and forth to school a lot, and it gets banged around more then an average laptop. So if you're purchasing an item that will get above average usage/wear, I think it could be worth it.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If this many of the Zens were breaking that quickly, you would definitely hear about it from any one of a number of consumer electronics review sites/magazines. [/ QUOTE ] I know CrazyEyze draws a lot of water around here, but this is the same as saying the post is a googletard, at least as bad as the one trapsetter just got banned for. Where is your NT now? [/ QUOTE ] I can't figure out if I'm being insulted or complimented here. [/ QUOTE ] Neither. I'm wondering why trapsetter gets banned for "What insurance should I buy?" as a googletard, when "Should I buy an ESP?" is just as much a googletard, and NT is silent now. NT needs to be consistent is all I'm saying. |

Re: Are Extended Service Plans for Electronics Ever Worth It?
No. You almost never use them anyways. All those protection services is how they get that extra buck out of you. Plus, for some of them, you have to have an assload of paperwork + the original packaging and so that it just isn't worth it.

The tech writer for the Chicago Tribune wrote that if you're a frequent traveller with a laptop, it might be worth it. Expensive piece of equipment that might be subjected to stresses it's not designed to withstand.
Other than that, no. MM MD |

NT needs to be consistent is all I'm saying. [/ QUOTE ] You know damn well that it's not consistent, the mods have never pretended that it is, and there is no reason they should. They're completely up-front about handing out justice in whatever manner they see fit. You've been around OOT long enough to know this. |

I didn't even know that I post with impunity. My ego is boosted.
CW - my confusion was around the phrase, "draws a lot of water around here." |

I never get these things, just seems like betting against yourself.
I love @ BestBuy when they offer them to you - their sales pitch is always something like - "well, that product has been known to....better get the warranty." So, your sales pitch is that the product I'm buying is a piece of crap? D |
