Edited by fatshaft (Mon Feb 13 2006 04:38 PM) [/ QUOTE ] I'm confused. What in your reply was so bad that it had to be edited, but was worse than the crap you left in? |

Re: If I say \"tap\"
I'll settle this argument.
You're right, 'Tap' means to bet 0.80 pot. Also: 'ding' means fold 'hein' means check 'snap' means bet 1/3 pot 'zing' means bet half pot 'poot' means bet 2/3 pot 'bapp' means bet pot To bet anything else, combine the following: 'forf'- 1% pot 'nart'- 10% pot To go all in you need to have the actual count, for example: 'bapp bapp zing nart forf'. Try it at your local casino. If no one understands, call the floor. The floor will know. |

Re: If I say \"tap\"
[ QUOTE ]
Settle an argument please: If I say " tap " ( not tapis) in a live card game, am I checking or going all-in? [/ QUOTE ] I get to be "serious man"? Woo-hoo. Neither. The dealer and other players should insist that you say "check" or "all in." Slang terms for hands, etc., are fine but slang terms for things you must make clear according to the rules are not allowed. (Edit: At any poker room with half a brain in management, that is.) And the other replies you're getting, you're getting because you've obviously been made to look a fool by the guy you're in the "argument" with, which is totally understandable from your replies in this thread. |

Re: If I say \"tap\"
I would interpret it to mean all-in. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "tap," meaning check. If you physically tap the table, that is of course a check, but that isn't what we're talking about here. I think that "tap," meaning to go all-in, is more or less obsolete, but you run into that term in old poker books. Morehead's The Complete Guide to Winning Poker comes to mind. The fact that there is some ambiguity is a very good reason to say something other than "tap" when verbalizing your intentions.
