I think they're moderate. The Wash Post is an excellent journalistic organization with well balanced coverage.

The WP is liberal in the sense that JFK was liberal. It's way less left than the NYT. Coming from a libertarian Republican perspective, I actually like it, even if I don't agree with it. About the best I can say about the NYT is it's well writtten.

I guess it depends on what you are comparing the Post to. Compared to Fox News, sure it is liberal (what isn't?). On the world stage it is clearly moderate.

OP,

If you can't read it and identify a slant, wouldn't that make it moderate?

Unlike the Washington Times, for example, a Right wing rag funded by Moonies at a loss - the newspaper equivlant of Fox News in Washington -

How does this have anything to do with the OP or the discussion at hand? I dare you to go more than 2 politics posts without (subconsciously perhaps?) spouting pointless, off-topic, ultra liberal rhetoric.

[/ QUOTE ]

nice - you don't quote the part where I DO address the OP's points, then pull out my addenum and bitch about how THAT doesn't address a point, when I am merely providing him a counterpoint of a paper that's truly biased

unlike the shrill Chicken Little cry of "liberal" , I am able to at least provide a factual basis of a paper funded solely to provide a mouthpiece for Right Wing views (at considerable financial loss to the publisher, I might add )

and all you can do is pull one snippit of the post - an addenum, out of context and get your panties all in a bundle over it. Your dishonesty is affirmed by the words you choose to quote of mine and the words you choose to leave out.

lame lame lame -

If the OP's question is about the Washington Post's reputation, the conservatives consider it a clear example of liberal media bias, while liberals, especially online netroots types, probably see it as a moderate paper that is biased toward the D.C. establishment. If you read a site like Daily Kos, its gets lambasted occasionally for taking conservative talking points at face value and writing stories that sometimes sound like Republican press releases. Howard Kurtz is someone who is often singled out for that. I have no idea what moderates think.

For liberal political bloggers, it seems to be a preferred paper to link to because its old stories are freely available, unlike the New York Times.
