Re: 20nl - aj shoved into on river
Well, I'd limp preflop behind the open limper to play for a very small pot only if I hit top pair or better. I'd fold if anybody raises behind me, or from the blinds. In EP I'd fold AJo. On the button or CO, with one limper, I'd raise, but not in MP. From MP, as in the OP, I'd either fold or limp.
I'm sure all kinds of people will hate that idea, but I win lots of medium sized pots with TPTK and TPWK this way at live games. And I never ever get stacked with AJ, like the OP probably did, when I only have TPTK or TPWK. AJo isn't really a raising hand at FR because it can't stand any pressure post flop. Without a read, I'd probably fold the river. Has he bluffed in spots like this with large river bets before? His flop min-bet/call looks like a draw of some kind, but it's hard to see what draw got there with either the 6d or 7d on the turn and river. I just don't think TPWK is good enough to call the oversized river bet unless you have a good reason to suspect a bluff from this player. |

Re: 20nl - aj shoved into on river
I don't mind a raise pre-flop, OP isn't in EP, he likely buys the button this way and has control over the hand after the flop. I like the raise on the flop to see what the weak donklead by our opponent means, but when called I'd probably shut down. There aren't many draws op. could be holding and I think we'll face a better ace or another made hand that has us beat quite often in this situation. He might had a c/raise in mind on the turn, which you checked through. A valuebet from his side would make more sense on the river with a strong hand, but hey, it is 20 nL. I think a fold is pretty standard here, unless u have a strong read this particular opponent attacks weakness with any hand this agressively.

Re: 20nl - aj shoved into on river
preflop raise is standard. I'd simply call his flop bet - let him bet your hand for you. As played, river is a fold.

Re: 20nl - aj shoved into on river
IMO well played all around, fold river tho'.
Cant put OPP on a hand for sure but Ax seems likely as 33/88. anyway, nothing u beat. |
