Default Simple Question (TV). 1 Answer sufficient.

When you buy and LCDTV "Monitor" that doesn't have a tuner...

If you get the cable box from your cable company that serves as the tuner right?

And if so, what is the downside to the monitors? Just that with a builtin tuner you can plug it straight into the cable jack or what?

Note: I tried searching, and it is so simple that I figure someone can easily answer.

Cable box serves as a tuner, however you probably need a specific package and different cable box to actually get HD content (at least I do in my area). Sets with tuners can pick up local over the air stations with an antennae. Depending on your cable provider, some sets eliminate the need for the cable box if they also have a CableCard or QAM tuner tuner.
