It's amazing to fathom that lifetime employment with a company was almost the norm not too long ago.

Yup. Public perception often lags way behind that, too. I still see some employers in real life, and some talking about it in articles and such, speaking as if employees owed them a lot, at the same time they're cool with their own companies owing employees nothing. Those two things don't really match up except in an employer's fantasy world, perhaps. One foot is in the present, one in the past.

But, if you could work 6 months at twice what you'd be making in a year, freelancing is a great option. [/ QUOTE ] My parents both worked in advertising for a long time. My dad was an accomplished creative director with numerous agencies. Now they freelance and make three times as much as he ever did with an agency, and he was always paid pretty well.
