Default Bottom set on coordinated flop

This hand seemed pretty straight forward but I just wanted to check with everyone to make sure.

Live 10/20
4-handed

Hero ($5100)
UTG ($1500)
SB ($1800)

Preflop: I'm dealt two black eights preflop on the Button.
Action: UTG opens for $100, I call on Button, SB calls, BB folds.

Up to this point, UTG hasn't shown anything out of the ordinary and seems to make moves every once in a while but not frequently.

Flop: 8 9 J r
Action: I check, BB checks, UTG bets $125, I c/r to $400, BB folds, UTG pushes for $1k more, I...?

I'm not quite sure what I can beat here except maybe some pair/straight combo draw. I've only played about 30 hands total at this table and Villain seems more on the conservative side I'd say. I have to call $1000 to win $1120. Is there ANY arguement for calling here? Also, who thinks I should've reraised pf?

You didnt fold did you?
This is an instant call, he could have basically anything.
Pair + draw, over pair, 2 pair and for only 1k.

I wouldn't, with those stack sizes.

I don't like the Check Raise on the button. Don't think I'd ever do that. As played it's an insta call, who cares what he has.

I think your button is broken. And BB should not be allowed to unmuck his cards after folding PF. Leave the game quick. You are being cheated.
