Default AC Stud Buyins?

Upcoming trip to AC, planing on spliting time between Taj and Trop. I'm mainly a LHE player, but might be looking to try Stud. Whats the smallest game spread (I understand some are ante and some are no ante, and would prefer ante), and what is the general rule of thumb for stud buy ins...ie X BBs so I have enough but don't look like a total noob. Thanks guys.

I believe the lowest stud is 1-5? I really don't know as I don't pay attention to low limit stud these days. way back when they had 1-3 stud. Both of those were no ante. There is sometimes a 2-way 3/6 (O8 and stud8 that is no ante). Slow game!

I think antes start at 5-10.

I'd buy in with $100 for 1/5, $120 for 3/6, and $220 for 5/10.

Lowest spread stud games are 1/5 (Taj), and 3/6 (Trop). Both are no ante games, at least 2 tables at both places. Trop & Taj both have 5/10 with a .50 ante, $2 bring in. Trop usually has 1 game going, Taj will have at least 2.

The only other low limit stud game in AC with an ante is the 1/5/10 at Bally's (.50 ante, $1 bring in).

Harrah's is the 1-5 stud capital of Atlantic City. During the day it's pretty much a guarantee there will be three tables running - sometimes four. There is no ante. I rarely play that game but a $100 buy-in is fine.

At Trop they don't spread 1-5 anymore. I really don't think they do at the Taj anymore either, but I am not absolutely sure, the other poster could be correct. The regular low limit stud games at the Trop are 3/6 and 5/10. The 5/10 at both places has an ante of 50 cents (never played the 3/6). Most people buy in for about $200, but it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Great info guys, thanks. May try and hit that Harrahs game, that sounds like what I'm looking for. Thanks again to all who responded.

I played the 3/6 stud at trop once - no ante. It really needs one though. Many times there was a bring in for $1 called in two spots. Fourth street is checked around so the next bet must be $6 when the pot is only $3.
