North Korean Propaganda: Is this for real?
http://pyang.su/10132006-02.htm
This is truly bizarre. From what I've heard of NK, reality may be stranger than fiction. Is this site for real? |

Re: North Korean Propaganda: Is this for real?
This is almost certainly for real. You've read '1984' right? Stuff like this does indeed happen in dictatorships.
This is the regime, after all, that sponsored a domestic campaign entitled 'Let's all trim our hair in accordance with Socialist lifestyle.' ETA, oh, I really LOVE the North Korean music charts. The number 1 artist in North Korea? Latoya Jackson! Coming in at number two is Kim Yong Yok with the hit 'Together in Defense of Socialism '06'. My favorite, though, has to be #6: 'Juche Farming Method is the Only Method' by the Farming Collective of the Northwest. |

Re: North Korean Propaganda: Is this for real?
definitely real.
They have a town close to the DMZ made entirely out of cardboard. No one lives there, but from a distance it looks like "heaven". Loud speakers spout out music and propoganda. Also, NK rountinely sends its tallest, most muscular troops to guard the DMZ across from US and SK troops. The purpose is to promote an image of strength and health. NK is a [censored] up place. |

Posted October 9, 2006 (Juche 95) Hi, Do your writers live in Pyongyang? How do you get internet access? Ewan MacDonald Dear Mr. MacDonald Yes, our writers do live in Pyongyang. Our government attempted to set up an internet host for the citizens in 1999, and we even had a domain name allocated to our country (.kp) but unfortunately the American imperialist government has made it so our computers are blocked from accessing sites located outside of Korea. Therefore, we only have an internal intranet system. This website was created for us by a western contact, a friend we met during his travels to Pyongyang. Each day we send him, via fax, the news articles to be posted on the website. We hope one day that the American government will unblock us from the internet, and that we can fully communicate with the rest of the world. I should also mention that this column will be posted in a future edition of the print version of the Pyongyang Chronicles. Thank you for writing to us. With socialist greetings, Sung Hee Lyoo Suh Editor - Pyongyang Chronicles [/ QUOTE ] Now as much as I despise the American government, if this guy was able to access online poker I just know he would be here claiming it was rigged. For both Sung Hee and his whining poker playing brothers, Occam's razor is not an idea they're familiar with. |
