Default Poker Stopping Injury

While this is obviously sad, I thought others might find it interesting. Accidentally found this blog while looking for the URL for SNGPT:

Abbreviated version: guy breaks wrist, stopping online poker career.

So here’s the thing. For the past few years, myself and some of the likewise out of shape, aging ex high school benchwarmers I call friends have been butchering the game of basketball one Wednesday night a week. One Wednesday night in particular, February 22nd actually, I went up for a rebound and got my legs taken out from under me. It was totally unintentional of course, and in our friendly little game injuries are pretty rare, but I crash landed really hard and really awkwardly. The end result was a badly broken right wrist. And so my amateur basketball career is now over.

I will be resuming my poker career eventually. I don’t know when exactly. Probably not any time soon. Apparently, I don’t heal well. Ended up seeing a specialist, having surgery and getting pins inserted. There’s going to be some further rehab to build back strength and range of motion. I’m also to refrain from long periods of mouse clicking, typing and other fun stuff. So while I won’t likely be playing sng tournaments for a while, I will try to resurrect this blog with maybe some strategy posts or hand histories or such.

I am going to get my bitching out of the way now. Obviously, for a righthanded person, not being able to use your right hand sucks. This fact manifests itself in the most maddening ways. For a laugh, try brushing your teeth, combing your hair and buttoning your shirt with your opposite hand. Luckily, my employer has been great about the whole situation. Time off and light duty requests haven’t been a problem and there was even some seemingly genuine concern thrown my way. My job doesn’t require a whole lot of typing or heavy lifting or the use of two hands at all times really. Here’s the rub: my job is pretty boring to begin with, but to be unable to do parts of it and to have to sit there anyway is so sad it’s almost beautiful.

Regarding blogs: If these words were people, I would embrace their genocide.

Does he only have one hand? Am I missing something? How does breaking one wrist stop you from playing online poker?

I guess if he plays with the other hand it's like someone else is playing.

Maybe he's just really uncoordinated with his left hand.
