Default Almost Theory: No Worse Hand Will Call

There is so much about this hand that is typical that maybe it's worth a discussion.

Opponent is one of the dime-a-dozen 25/12/4 types who are sooo prevalant at the FTP NL100 these days. Not overly loose preflop, but a little too passive. He's aggressive postflop, but predictably so. If he PFRed he can be counted on to CB, and his CBs look like CBs -- eg, 5.50 in to a 7 pot, something like that.

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $97.50
Grunch (BB): $160.95
UTG: $175.40
CO: $96
BTN: $108.85

Preflop: Grunch is dealt 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG folds, CO calls $1, BTN folds, SB calls $0.50, Grunch checks

Flop: ($3) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, Grunch checks, CO bets $3, SB folds, Grunch calls $3

Turn: ($9) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Grunch bets $6...

The flop is a perfect flop for a CB. It's unlikely to have hit anyone. It's also unlikely to have hit my opponent, so I prefer getting that CB out of him by checking. Now of course once he bets and the other guy folds (if he calls, I'm done and this hand isn't posted) I could raise. He probably has 6 live cards, although he may only have 3 overcards.

Is my best plan to CR the flop, CR a safe turn, or lead almost any turn? The reason I went with check-call/bet here was because it seemed like I would have more FE by doing this than by CRing the flop. It also gave me a chance to let my equity situation solidify on the turn before committing larger bets.

Thinks on this?

Well, he didnt PFR but everything else is right. I was expecting him to bet flops just like he PFRed and was CBing. You know the type.

Assuming this is a raised pot:
I don't really like this since when most players do it they're doing it as a bluff or with a medium strength hand (maybe draw) and it's almost painfully obvious. Occasionally you'll get someone to try bluffing you off it, but I doubt most players on these boards take a line like this with a big hand since it's never a good way to maximize the amount of value you'll get.
If they're folding here, you're betting with the best hand.

Limped pot:
I think it's just so different here given the fact that nobody opened pre.

your turn bet is a semibluff.

i like betting this flop. if your read is that he'll bet the flop with air, i'd cc the flop (like you did), then check the turn (and generally fold to a bet, but sometimes call one).

Isn't this clearly a great time to c/r the flop? For many reasons.
