Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe he should make his terms easier to understand? For example Renting less than 7 days = X per day Renting 7 or more days = Y per day [/ QUOTE ] Yes, going forward, he will be clarifying the rate schedule with additional information. He is mainly interested in what the typical person would expect to be charged for a booking of 11 days given that the rates quoted did not have any additional clarification. -RMJ |

Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
$750 * (11 / 7)
I think a guy who has already stayed there a week should be given a better rate for an additional 4 nights than a new customer. |

Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
RMJ,
OK, fine. In that case the guy is retarded for accepting an 11-day booking without clarifying how much it costs. "Place for rent, $125/day or $750/wk" "I want to rent it for 11 days" "OK, done!" Retarded. |

Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
If you get a discount for renting for 7 days, clearly the discounted rate should apply to all 11 days. I voted 2nd option.

Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
phb,
That is not automatic. Car rental is a standard spot where you get weekly discount rates, but additional days are back on daily rate until you hit the week threshold. |

Re: Proper interpretation of room rates.
[ QUOTE ]
This is a decent question. I think the charge should probably be (11/7) * $750. It sort of depends on why he's offering a discount for full week rentals. If it's because it's kind of a hassle to arrange a rental period, so longer rentals save him time arranging more rentals, then the full 11 days should be at the lower rate. If it's because it's at a vacation type destination, where many/most customers are going to stay for exactly one week, and tehrefore having a place available for only half of a week means that the place will probably stay empty... that would be an argument for charging $750 + 4 * $125. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, rarely is the first response in the thread of such high quality. I agree. |

Are two sets of weekends included during the 11 days?

Are two sets of weekends included during the 11 days? [/ QUOTE ] That, I don't know. But, would that affect how you (as the renter) interpret the pricing? That's at the heart of what I'm asking... assuming no other information, what would you expect the correct charge should be? Would you really expect to be charged differently if your 11 days spanned 2 weekends or not? I personally wouldn't expect it, but that's just me. The poll seems split at the moment... 46 to 35 to 6. I guess there's not a strong consensus as to what the 'proper' expectation is for the final bill amount. -RMJ |
