Novelist -- Zurvan (15) vs. chuckles (12)

The novelist was initially Ruth Ozeki, but both a lack of information on Ozeki (particularly her birthdate and whether any of her books had made the NYT bestsellers list) made me decide to change the novelist before either player had finished. So I went with Don DeLillo, which both got readily (but chuckles a little bit faster).

Object -- SH (9) vs Alex (11)

Spatula. I can't believe you guys both got this so quickly, SH in particular. Getting it in 9 is pretty amazing.

Album -- dmk (28) vs. HBE (30)

SR-71's Now You See Inside, easily the hardest one (Ozeki may have been equally as hard if I'd kept her as the novelist). I think both guys wanted to give up at some point.

Historical Figure -- FCBL (13) vs Boiler (13)

Ivan the Terrible. Both got it in 13 for a tie. And I still don't know how FCBL got it, I thought for sure he'd need 2-3 more questions.

Mystery -- Zurvan (16) vs mets (20)

Mystery category was "a film" -- Drop Dead Gorgeous. Of course, films are easier to narrow than albums (in my opinion) so this still wasn't too bad.

I assumed it was on the list, after discovering it was an American.

I probably could have done better by going Letter then age. Oh well, good job.

I got to Europe, with England, France and Spain previously eliminated. I had the birth year ringed between 1400 and 1600. I knew it was a king.

I luckboxed/educated guessed Ivan on Q13.
