That was a terrible shot. Not because it was a 3, but because it was a rushed, frantic, huck-it-up and pray shot.

Considering that the above has been the entirety of the Celtics crunchtime offense for the last three years, I can't blame Pierce for forgetting he had Allen and House on the court with him.

Big win. They were playing pretty mediocre all game and Bobcats were playing about as well as they could. Great to come away with a W.

I've been telling people, the Pollard pick-up was awesome. He's playing solid ball in his limited minutes. He'll probably be logging 10-15 mins per night from here on out, and I love what he brings.

Adam,

It's like every team you support turns into gold.

I was watching this game last night while playing an on-line tourney and when the Celts for what seemed like the 6th straight time down the court failed to get a decent shot, turned it off with just seconds left to play.

I rationalized that it was back to back and there will be stinkers in a 82 game season but was still going to make a post about how bad they played down the stretch and this could be a concern. Then I see your post and say wtf that couldn't have happened.

Reminds me of how they used to lose games just like this in the last few years. But still not happy about how they played down the stretch in a close game, as the same thing happened in their one loss. All the wins have basically been blow outs so I'd like to see some better play down the stretch in a close game.

Wow, thanks for posting that. As I said I turned this off when Pierce missed and then the Celts fouled with 4.7 seconds left. I thought Charlotte would shoot foul shots so there was no way for a comeback but they weren't in the penalty.

The play is eeriely similar to the Celts last second win vs the Pistons in the East finals years ago when Bird made a big steal of an inbounds pass and had the presence of mind to hit a cutting DJ for the winning hoop. In this play Allen anticipates and gets himself squared off for the 3 and Pierce ala Bird gets him the ball. Great, great play.

Thanks for this! I was watching via CBS Sportsline and it seemed that they had stolen the ball and then called timeout. This play was incredible. Love the way it was edited to, watching the Charlotte guy talking trash to Garnett and then right after Allen nails the 3 Garnett says something back to the other guy. Love it!
