When I first realized the theme of that debate would be empowering blacks, I thought "Man, this is really bad for RP." But actually I think he came off great. While everyone else was talking about giving black people ponies and stuff, RP did a great job of sticking to his guns about getting rid of min. wage, etc. and just trusting the ideal of liberty to help all people equally, and I think out of the people there he might have actually struck the best cord with the Republican base (merely because the others played to their audience more).
