Default New \"table\" version of Texas Hold-em

Hi,

A friend that lives outside of Vegas tells me there's a new version of Texas Hold-em that's played on a blackjack-like table. You play against the house, not the other players.

What's the scoop on it? What's the house edge?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed here - I did a search and didn't find anything.

Thanks

Sklansky wrote an article in the magazine forum about a variation on this that he created (WPT Hold'em??).

Plus, I've been told, there have been discussions on this in other forums (this is the only one that I read on any regular basis, so I don't know where it was discussed.. but my wife reads a bunch of forums - just doesn't recall which one it was discussed on).

I've heard that it's very beatable (depending on the rules at the particular casino.. and depending on the dealer.. if they make bad decisions).

Thanks for the help,

I found Sklansky's info in January's 2+2 Mag article, plus an older one (I don't remember the date.)

I also found info on Wizard of Odds that describes the strategy, ect. Not a bad game. Personally, I'm skeptical about playing against the house on pretty much any game - but it's fun sometimes when you're with your pals.

Does anyone know where this game is dealt in Vegas - especially downtown.

Thanks

I was in Vegas last week and that table game is pretty much all downtown casinos - I definitely saw it in the Nugget, Binions, Plaza and Vegas Club.

Very expensive game to play. Although you can see 2 cards for 5 dollars, it will cost you at least 10 to see the flop. Since Wizard of Odds recommends that you play nearly all starting hands (other than hands like 23o), you are committed to $15 per flop. You can continue to bet your "ante" bet before the turn and river if you like. You are playing against a true random hand and playing for absolute value. And can drop a couple of 100s very quickly.

the texas hold'em table game that is in most all of the downtown casinos isn't sklansky's game. it's a different one. i don't remember what it's called but it's a little different.

i've played it and the wpt game and, imo, the wpt game is harder to beat.

I thought wizard of odds listed Sklansky's WPT Hold'em as the lowest house advantage.
