Default Value of HUDs and of table selection

I am lazy and my computers suck. I play on a Mac using Virtual PC. What this means is that I can't run pokertracker at the same time as the poker clients, because Virtual PC's CPU gets maxed out by these poorly written bits of software. It also means that opening tables takes a very long time, so I rarely if ever look at who's at a table or how it's playing before sitting down.

How much would you estimate that having no HUD and exercising no table selection to speak of costs me on average, playing Party $10/20?

Guy.

i dont know what stakes you play, but if you play one of the party stakes that has a ton of table selection (3/6 - 20/40) id say its costing you a lot

I think it is ok/good to play HUDless from time to time to get a feeling on how much your play is based on PT reads.

That's just it: I've never used PT reads.

How much better do you think I'd do if I did use them? (Assuming I can learn to interpret the stats reasonably well.)

Guy.

stay focused + HUD = A game

stay focused + no HUD = B game

unfocused + HUD = C game

unfocused + no HUD = D game

I can only do C and D if I play for some time so its easy for me.

But if not using HUD would make me focus I think I could win more then I do now not using it, as when I play NL at a fairly high limit ($500 buyin is high for me) or play headsup.

I'd guess alot.

Not having the ability to table select is worse than not having stat reads while you are playing, IMO.

I think not having stat reads while 1 or 2 tabling would be fine if you were focused (ie, you wouldnt be giving up much). At 3 tables or more I think you do start to give up a decent amount by not having stat reads tho.

Is it in any significant way based on more than "oh, he is a 50/23/45 LAG"? Because I don't see many posts that actually take much more into consideration when it comes to PT stats. So I wonder what opportunities I am missing by just having a note that says "major LAG showdown monkey"? I'm curious.

And by the way, I use PT and a HUD too cause... well cause I'm lazy and Party's note feature suck.

I don't table select. The fish move around so much that I don't think it's a big deal. It gets me into trouble sometimes, though, sometimes I'm sitting at a table with 5 TAGS, and it's such a BAD table that nobody possibly would ever EVER want to sit down unless he's a complete... hey wait a second!

I think that the better you are, the less important a HUD is. If you play 2 or less tables, a HUD isn't important, I don't think.

I estimate .45 BB/100 assuming 4-tabling.

Without a HUD I would only be able to comfortably play 2 tables. Maybe a 3rd once I got some regular reads. With the HUD I play 4-5 and I play better. Therefore my winrate goes up (slightly because it goes down slightly as well playing more tables) with the HUD and my Hands/Hour go up. The HUD maybe increases my profit margin by around 25-30% (More if I'm on my A game 5 tabling with is rare). It is that important to me.

Also the value of table and especially seat selection is HUGE!
