i'm taking a class on drug dependence.

our teacher threw out the other day that of people who try to quit smoking with no outside help, aka no programs or patches or family/friend support, only 2-3% succeed. that's a pretty amazing number.

all i would say is if you really wanna quit, get other people involved in it. your doctor, your friends, your family. otherwise, a couple weeks from now you'll come up with some lame excuse and start again.

My grandfather's currently dying from severe lung problems due to how much he smoked when he was younger.

He quit over 20 years ago. Didn't matter. Damage was already done.

He's been bedridden for months because he doesn't even have the lung capacity to get up and walk.

Seeing something like that is a hell of a lot more effective than any of the ghey anti-smoking campaigns you see out there.
