2/4 mid pair
I used to limp with my middle pairs and play them for set value if the table was loose enough, but I had a downswing and decided to shake up my game.
Villian is 26/5/1 after only 25 hands, so I don't have much of a read. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is CO with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 3 folds, MP1 :#A500AF(Villian(26/5/1))/ calls, 2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, MP1 :#A500AF(Villian(26/5/1))/ calls. Flop: (5.50 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Villian(26/5/1) checks, Hero bets, Villian(26/5/1) calls. Turn: (3.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Villian(26/5/1) checks, Hero ... Question: Should I check or bet here? I'll post the river later if there is interest. |

Re: 2/4 mid pair
Bet. He could have a flush draw or maybe made a loose call with something like AJ. A lower pocket pair is also possible.

Re: 2/4 mid pair
fire off again... i'd use the river card and villain's wtsd% to determine if i'd fire again on the river if checked to... if villain shows any aggression here on the turn or donk's the river, i fold UI

Re: 2/4 mid pair
What range should I put villian on?
Any two broadway + suited connectors? Any two suited? Random? |

Re: 2/4 mid pair
Any 2 clubs that you think a 26/5 open limps with in MP1, lower pockets, hands like AJ/AT are possibilities, and also A6s. Obviously he can have Kx/66 or something like AQ, but it's an easy fold to a raise.

Re: 2/4 mid pair
Since the board is very draw heavy, and I don't think I've ever been able to get somebody with a draw to fold at 2/4, do you think there is any merit in checking with a plan on calling the river? Or is that just weak-tight thinking?
Edit: I'm going to sleep now, I'll reply in the morning. |

You make nothing when he decides to not bluff his busted draw on the river. |

You're not betting to FOLD the draws; you're betting to CHARGE the draws. You can't often get a flush draw to fold in a limit game (no matter what the limit), but to make up for the times that you lose the pot when your opponent's flush does get there, you need to collect a bet on the turn that you won't often get from him on the river. -McGee |
