Hand shaking etiquette

I think it's kinda silly that they all feel compelled to do it (it's just a poker tournament, for chrissakes), but...

At what point in a tourney does it become rude not to bother shaking hands when you bust out/bust someone else out?

Thats what I thought this thread was going to be about. I hate it when people that you know well refuse to shake your hand and give the fist instead. Damnit Daniel and your video blog last year!

It is rude if it looks like they were starting to get up or otherwise expecting the handshake.

If they offer their hand, you shake it. Otherwise, you're free to just walk away.

I usually ask their name and then shake their hand and wish the well. At least it gives me the opportunity to see if they ended up winning the entire thing. I think storming off early in the event isn't rude at all. I'd be a little steamed if I busted out before the 1st break.

Final table of big event you should shake hands, unless you have a personal problem with the person. Final table is enough of an accomplishment where you should be able to put your anger aside for a minute.

Be a good sport. I always offer. Storming off is childish, regardless of the beat or level of the tournament.
