Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
It has nothing to do with them being pissed because A-Rod did a bush league thing. If Tony Pena is running his AAAA backup mouth, I'm going to remind him that he's coaching first base for the Yankees and I'm getting paid more than he ever did.

Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
Well pena made close to 17 mil playing baseball retiring in 1997 with a great deal of it coming from 91-93. With inflation thats a lot more. Im not sure what hes made since coaching/managing.
In this day and age its petty hard for a pitcher not too make that much. But Towers is so [censored] bad he really may not get there which is pretty sad. And If im tony pena running my mouth and Towers told me I was coaching 1st for the yankees (hes 50 years old big shock hes retired) I'd be happy to remind him that he gets lit up like a Christmas tree every time he pitches. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] CMW, Hughes, Joba, Kennedy, Sanchez: 2009. Combined salary $5 million. SHIP IT! [/ QUOTE ] btw, the bullpen isn't going to be too bad either. ohlendorf, ramirez, britton, bruney. [/ QUOTE ] I think you forgot Mariano. If you're just talking about kids, David Robertson should be in the bullpen mix by then, and JB Cox if he doesn't break his hand in any more fights. There are so many great young arms in the system right now. Alan Horne is probably next closest to the majors after Hughes, Chamberlain and Kennedy. Then there's a whole group of 17- to 20-year olds like Dellin Betances, Zachary McAllister, Jairo Heredia and Manuel Barreda pitching in Rookie or Single-A ball that have great upsides. Oh, and Andrew Brackman too, who's supposedly going to get a deal done in the next week. [/ QUOTE ] i thought we were talking about the new generation. young and cheap. everyone listed (starter and bullpen) can be had for less than $10M total in annual salary. |

Huh? If Tony Pena is running his worthless backup catcher mouth, why's it wrong for Towers to say [censored] back? [/ QUOTE ] Because he is going to make himself look like an idiot, regardless of whether he is right or wrong. It's fine for him to think that, he might be right, I don't know, but it still makes him look dumb and reflects poorly on his team. |

Tonight's lineup has no Damon and no A-Rod:
Cabrera (CF) Jeter (SS) Abreu (RF) Posada (C) Matsui (LF) Giambi (DH) Cano (2B) Betemit (3B) Phillips (1B) A-Rod may not be able to pitch tonight because his leg is pretty bad. They expect him to be ready by Friday, though. |
