Default ez river fold with flush? 25/50/100 Live game

Villain in the hand is Artie, for those that have played in the higher stakes games around the country. He is a big winner in poker long term and most likely views me as too happy to call off in big pots with marginal hand (he thinks I like to make hero calls).

Relevant history is as follows. The session before, he had stacked me for 30k when I had raised pre to 500 with a 30k stack in a 25/50/100 game from MP with AKo, gotten one caller, and he repopped from the straddle to 3k. Flop was AK4r, he bet 5k and I called. Turn 8h, putting two hearts on board. He bet 20k and I shoved in for a few K more. He called and the river was a heart and he won with Q9hh.

This particular session, he stacked me on the following hand (again, he was in the straddle in a 25/50/1 game). I am sitting on 23k and I complete in the sb with J10cc. BB call and villain makes it 500 more from the straddle. I call and the BB calls. Flop is 10x4c2c, I led 2k, he made it 8500, and I shoved and his AA held.

A few minutes after the J10cc hand, I am sitting on 30k, and it's 25/50/100. I make it 600 pre with 109hh from the hijack. He calls on the btn, and the SB calls. Everyone folds flop is 3 way. Flop is Ah5h3x. Checks to me and I bet 1300. Villain calls and SB folds. Turn is the 6h.

Board is now Ah5h3x6h. I have made my flush. Now, what do people think of a turn bet here? Problem with a turn bet as I see it is that I don't really want an ace to fold, or even a hand that floated like an underpair, and he will certainly fire if checked to.

However, I decide to lead 4k. He makes it 8k. Is he bluffing here often enough? I considered shoving, is that terrible?

River is a Jx, board is Ah 3x 5h 6h Jx .

I check, he shoves me in. I tank it and fold.

Standard spot? The reason I folded is because I didn't see many hands (sets included) that he would raise for value on the turn and shove the river. If he was going for a cheapshowdown raise I very much doubt he would have shoved river.

Any advice, on all streets, much appreciated.

Thanks,
dlpnyc21

dlpnyc21, I know this is completely the wrong forum to ask in but I think you should do a well...

P.S. my two cents...

a) Even though he thinks you like to make hero calls, does he view you as good enough to lay down a flush?
b)Have you seen him or anyone do the min raise (turn) shove (river) bluff (set-up bluff) esp on draw heavy boards or completed drawy boards?

Imo this is a bluff more than value-towning but wtf do I know.

dlpnyc,

Maybe I am missing something..

"if he views you as someone too happy to call off in big pots with marginal hands (he thinks I like to make hero calls)".

Why would you EVER fold your flush on this board?

i dont htink i could ever find a fold here against artie...you raised preflop, bet flop, checked river...i think its pretty unlikely he is putting you on a flush, and is just as likely to do this with a lower flush as a higher one...i actually think he is capable of playing a lot of hands this way...i think i call this pretty fast...

You just lost a huge pot and villain probably thinks you are steaming, you're up against a guy capable of big bluffs...just shove the turn. If I were villain I would've played this hand about the same as he did if I had a set.

Could have a lower flush or even a set or two pair or bluff.

Easy call.

Your hand doesnt look like a flush and he should be value betting a lot of hands that dont beat a flush.

I dunno if he'd play a set like this but he certainly would with a lower flush, and given the description I could see it being a bluff too. I don't think it's a no-brainer call but I can't see myself folding.
