Default starting stack size in home tourney\'s

I play in a few different home tourney's each week. Some of the games start with a stack of $2,500 to $3,500. A different game starts with $8,000 to $10,000. Buy-ins are the same and blinds start at 25-50 (going up every 15 min.) in both games. I enjoy starting with the larger stack and seem to do much better in these games. Should I start focusing on the smaller starting stack games if I want to get a more realistic sense of casino tourney's? I am basing this on being able to play in $100 to $500 buy in tourney's instead of $10,000 buy in tourneys!
