Default United States votes in 51st US State!!!???

I watched the President's speech regarding Iraq. everyone seems shocked that he has finally stated a prolonged presence in Iraq. I was just under the impression the building of the largest Embassy not to mention multiple military bases kinda gave that part away. I wasn't really paying much attention..but did people believe the troops in Korea were temporary? So confused these days about peoples ignorance

What are you disagreeing with? The Bush administrations intent to stay in Iraq for a prolonged period of time? Or the 51'st state crap? Or both?

The 51st State was just a joke. And my comment was in reflection to what I hear the media talking about. I left The US Army about 2 years ago and even then we knew this was a new occupation. Maybe I should have had one of the "cool" posters post this for a better response.

I'm watching the HBO show Alive Day Memories right now, Marine has brain damage. 22. I think the situation in Iraq is pretty hopeless, the idea that there can be a viable Iraqi state. I'm no expert, obviously.

If Bush is staying in for his legacy, if there is any thought that, well, I will leave this mess for the next President, and when we pull out the resulting chaos will be their fault, it beyond criminal, its evil. I don't know what's going on in his head, though.

Vhawk, I believe many people are of the opinion that we are going to withdraw sometime soon from Iraq. Yet, the Bush administration has for a while, installed many, expensive military bases that seem to be more than just functional strategic posts. This is indicative of the Bush administration痴 intention of not leaving Iraq for a long, long , time.

Now, this seems interesting. Am I wrong?
