Default Thoughts on todays market (4/20)?

My take is people have started to believe there will be no correction in the near future and all the money on the side line has been but back into the market on a Friday, as Friday is historically a weaker day in the market. The outcome? Now that the belief is there will be no correction, you will see a dramatic sell of in the near future. Comments? ( A pump and dump on a large scale?)

I don't think there's much benefit in trying to find out why the market does what it does.

Fucusing on 'what' the market is doing rather than 'why' is more useful.

People are more interested in 'the why' which is why silly channels like CNBC are so popular and most people fail to beat passive investing.

My personal opinion is that most stock markets will fail to beat hiding your cash under your pillow for the next 3-5 years. But I'm not going to invest/trade on my opinions. I'll just try and figure out what the market is doing, not why it is doing it.

the difference between predicting the market and prediciting roulette, is that with predicting the market people don't think it is pure chance.

the beauty with trying to predict the market is that you can give reasons and if your right, you can think 'dang im good!' and if your wrong, you read the press reports, and think 'ah yeah, i understand, next time ill get it right'.

when not even greenspan can accurately predict what will happen, we have no chance.

i'm just going to invest in a couple of trend markets (gold and uranium are my two trend markets for the coming months). the rest is staying in the savings account.

dazra, btw my post was not at all meaning to take the piss out of your post becuase it is a sensible interesting post, just from my very limited time looking at the markets trying to predict them seems futile.

nobody can predict them. people can only predict their own niche areas of knowledge. that is what i will invest in, and nothing else.

predicting individual stocks is 100 times easier than predicting the whole market, which has a gazillion different factors affecting it and could go up or down in general on any of these factors.

wha? I really disagree. Predicting individual stocks is really really challenging, whereas the macro factors that affect the market level are more obvious and known. Im talking about over a 12 month period btw.

I predict the market is going up, unless it goes down or stays the same.
