Default Argosy\'s Empress Joliet (IL) adding 20/40 & a second NL game

Beginning the first week of June, the Empress will be adding a 5/10 NL game on Tuesdays at 6 pm, and a 20/40 limit game Wednesdays at 6 pm. Currently, the room only offers 5/10 and 10/20 limit, and a Sunday night 5/10 NL game.

I won't have the BR to try the 20/40 anytime soon, but if it is anything like the existing limit games, it ought to be pretty good.

Here is the Wiki link for the Empress for anyone interested.

I'm so glad card room management constantly gets things like this wrong. Why limit your players to ONLY Being able to play at 6pm on Tuesdays, 6pm on wednesday, ect..

WTf, just offer the games and if people want to play, spread them.

"I'm sorry, we wont have the games you want to play until Tuesday"

tuesday comes

"I'm sorry we pissed off all the players for this game because we wouldn't run it when they wanted to play, only when we wanted to spread it."

I feel sorry for you guys stuck with a joint like this.

Awesome! There is not a single poker room within 45 minutes of this casino. This is good news. The last time I played here, some guys wanted to bump it from 10/20 to 15/30. Management had no problem with that. If I recall correctly, the 2 seat was stuck over $1600 in that game before it went 15/30!

They only have four tables. The Empress is less a poker "room" than a roped-off corner of the casino. For a room this size to add another NL game (only one in IL I believe, unless there's a downstate room I don't know about) and a regular 20/40 is pretty cool, IMO.

There are two other poker rooms in IL: Hollywood Casino in Aurora and another one in Metropolis (pop 5-10k) in far downstate IL. Neither of them are much better than Argosy.

The NL game is a raked pot, you don't pay time, which is good. The thing that sucks about this game is the max buy-in is only $500.
They need to raise the buy-in or make the blinds 2-5.
Just my opinion.
I used to play there alot. At times the wait for 10-20 is 2-3 hours, other times the game is short handed. I have been going to Resorts, you can almost alway get on a table there with 20 mins or so.
