Default FBB year end review

I know most people have moved on to football by now, but I thought it would be fun to see whose fantasy baseball drafts worked out the best. Here is my entry:

10. Wright
11. Vlad
30. JRoll
31. Bay
50. Webb
51. Harang
70. Fielder
71. Kazmir
90. Hunter
91. Kendrick
130. Lowe

Key preseason trade:
Harang and Lo Duca for Felix and Russell Martin

Key FA pickups:
BJ Upton, the first time Kendrick went down
Cust
Rowand
Maine
Gorz
Weathers
Lidge

I had the typical hits and misses in my auction league (7x5, $250 cap, unlimited keepers w/ $3 yearly inflation)

Hits:

$1 for Kelly Johnson, $1 for Corey Hart, $1 for Tom Gorzellany, $3 for Brad Penny, $25 for Prince, $7 Shane Victorino

Misses:

$1 for Chris Burke, $30 for Chris Carpenter, $25 for Huston Street

great trades I made:

Dan Johnson for $6 Tim Lincecum, Chien-Ming Wang ($13) for Yovani Gallardo ($6), Adam Dunn ($30) for Phil Hughes ($3)

the jury is still out on some of SP, but overall I did ok with my team considering how much money went to waste on Carpenter/Street. I'm only a middle of the road team, but well positioned for next year.

also, I think it's weird how FBB has come to be the abbreviation for "fantasy baseball". where else does "BB" mean "baseball"?

Here's one of my better H2H leagues on Yahoo where I ran up my highest winning % ever IIRC of .689:

1. (2) Johan Santana SP
2. (23) Carlos Lee OF
3. (26) Matt Holliday OF
4. (47) Aramis Ramírez 3B
5. (50) Troy Glaus 3B,SS
6. (71) Juan Pierre OF
7. (74) Ryan Zimmerman 3B
8. (95) Cole Hamels SP
9. (98) Chris Ray RP
10. (119) Curt Schilling SP
11. (122) Nick Markakis OF
12. (143) Takashi Saito RP
13. (146) Ervin Santana SP
14. (167) Michael Cuddyer 1B,OF
15. (170) Ian Kinsler 2B
16. (191) Russell Martin C
17. (194) Jim Thome Util
18. (215) Jeremy Sowers SP
19. (218) Dave Roberts OF
20. (239) Salomón Torres RP
21. (242) Cla Meredith RP

Brutal pick of Santana at 2 over A-rod/Howard/Reyes, how I survived that I have no idea, but awesome value on Hamels/Saito/Markakis/Kinsler/Russel Martin/Ramirez/Thome.

Key FA pickups:

Prince Fielder, Carlos Guillen, Jered Weaver, Chad Cordero, Brett Myers, Tim Lincecum, Brad Hennessey (fair amt. of 'tards in my league)

Key trades:

Cuddyer and Markakis for Oswalt, Pierre for Orlando Hudson (when Kinsler was on DL).

20 team league, 25 man roster, 10x10 (almost like a real baseball sim) currently sitting pretty with a 50 pt lead on 2nd place.

1. (20) Grady Sizemore OF
2. (21) Carlos Lee OF
3. (60) Paul Konerko 1B
4. (61) John Smoltz SP
5. (100) Brett Myers SP
6. (101) Cole Hamels SP
7. (140) Torii Hunter OF
8. (141) Mike Mussina SP
9. (180) Frank Thomas Util
10. (181) Pat Burrell OF
11. (220) Javier Vázquez SP
12. (221) John Patterson SP
13. (260) Akinori Otsuka P
14. (261) Troy Tulowitzki SS
15. (300) Corey Hart OF
16. (301) Gerald Laird C
17. (340) Mike Lowell 3B
18. (341) Esteban Germán 2B,3B,OF
19. (380) Henry Owens P
20. (381) Yuniesky Betancourt SS
21. (420) Homer Bailey SP
22. (421) Kyle Farnsworth P
23. (460) José Valentín 2B,OF
24. (461) James Loney 1B
25. (500) Juan Salas P
26. (501) Elijah Dukes OF
27. (540) Rafael Betancourt P

Big trades: Burrell for Bedard, Hunter for Philips, Alex Gonzalez, Pie and Bailey (when they were starting) for Rolen and V. Wells
Big pickups: Carmona, sick mid-relievers like Rafael Perez and Joba (Holds + K/9 + K/bb ftw)

Basically was carried by the super sick starting 5 of Smoltz-Vazquez-Hamels-Bedard-Carmona.

I always thought pitchers were worth quite a bit less in H2H leagues due to higher weakly variance.
