Default Faust

I'm a huge fan of the germanic story of Faust, by Goethe

I was wondering if anyone knew of any modern productions of this story? I'm thinking it would be an Opera

I'm kind of lost and figured this would be a good place to start.

Edit: It doesnt have to be an Opera. Any modern films based upon Faust are ok too

The opera is good, though, and I've even sung the Kermesse scene.

THere are a number of opera's written about Faust, the most well known one by Gounod.

However, if you're interested in a piece of music that captures the essence of the story, try Franz Liszt's "A Faust Symphony"....I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Faust heavily influenced Bulgakov's Master and Margarita, one of my favorite books, and a must read for everyone.

I love Faust too. I recommend renting Faust by F.R. Murnau
It's an amazing silent film. I've seen the opera also, but I forget who composed it!

I've been wanting to see this for years, ever since I saw one amazing still from it. I thought there were no prints. I must get this.
