Iraq.... Winners and Losers (Who are yours)
Iraq War Winners
1) Large Defense Contracting companys. Lockheed Martin, Haliburton, General Dynamics... Oh boy are they the winners. IMO the billions they are making off this war might actually be good for the U.S. longterm if they put a lot of this money into R&D. Might make for some cool weapons in the future. 2) Middle East Food and Beverage Companies. (Every juice box, milk box, bag of potato chips etc has been made in a middle eastern country. 3) Foreign Workers believe it or not working through KBR there are a lot of job opportunites for foreign workers. While only making around 5 dollars a day after a few years they may be considered rich in their home countrys. The Future business leaders of "whereever" 4)Foreign Auto Companys - While not all "most" vehicles used by civilians in Iraq are made by hyundai, kia, mistusbishi, nissan etc. Maybe U.S. vehicles can't handle the terrain ?????? 5)Haliburtion (Well the KBR part of them)..... I said them already but they own everything over here EVERYTHING. 6)AAFES... I can buy a tax free DVD for 19.99 in Iraq once again TAX FREE..... But Best Buy is taxed and still 14.99. Talk about taking advantage of soldiers. 7) Pepsi,Coke.... Nuff said Losers 1) American Car Companys Losing a TON of sales to foreign auto companys. Like I said maybe they can't handle the dust..... shipping prices may also be taken into account. 2) Soldiers Familys.. nuff said' 3) Soldiers... Nuff said one can argue that the brand new BMW they buy when they get home makes them a winner. But after they spend their nest egg on a pimped out car that has no value in 5 years they are back to making .75 cents an hour. 4) American TaxPayer..... The way KBR is taking advantage of the government which I won't go into detail over the computer is sickning. When Cheney dies they might actually bury him in Uncle Scrooges vault of gold. I have to run I had a few more but would anyone else care to add some more winners and losers ?????? Let's see what kind of list we can get going. |

[ QUOTE ]
Iraqi populace? [/ QUOTE ] Winner or Loser. One can make the argument that the ball is in their court. Without Saddam they have a chance to make whatever future they want. Remember Saddam was no Angel... You could wake up in the middle of the night to find your family missing. Or the mass graves. Many people died for NO REASON. Or would you say loser.. Many Deaths, Bombs, Violence, Civil War. Could you argue that the deaths and violence now might be worth more than the meaningless saddam deaths. At least they are fighting for something now. From my standpoint the Iraqis I have had contact with are happy we are here. But my opinion carries about as much weight as Borats. |

[ QUOTE ]
Winner: Iran. [/ QUOTE ] +1 By far the biggest winner. Oil companies: the decrease in stability in the region has kept oil prices high. Other losers: Gulf countries: Shiite populations in these countries are now getting restless. Jordon: 700K refugees is starting to pry the country apart. US--we have lost credibility with not only the arab world, but the whole world, not to mention the billions of $$$'s and thousands of lives killed and injured. Tossup: Turkey--while they didn't like Saddam too much, they like the idea of a semi-autonomous Kurd nation even less. I expect Kurdish rebel activity to be on the increase. |

Re: Iraq.... Winners and Losers (Who are yours)
Iraqi War winners -
Al Queda - they now have a fertile recruitment and training ground they didn't have prior to the invasion - their ranks are growing with the disenfranchised and their tactics are getting better - they have opportunities under American occupation they never had under Saddam - not to mention the war bought them some pressure away from Afghanistan/Pakistan, where we had them on the ropes. Finally, it validated Osama's strategy to get American bogged down in an endless bloody war that saps our strength and our financial resources while uniting more Muslims behind his strain of fundamentalism. Big time winners, guys. Losers Freedom and the Constitution have been big losers in this fight. rb |

[ QUOTE ] Winner: Iran. [/ QUOTE ] Who knows if they become the next target they might be the big loser too. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe, though if they get targeted, I suspect it will be related to their nuclear program, which would be a "threat" whether Iraq was or was not invaded. As a result of the war, directly, they seem like geopolitical winners. The people of Iran also might be winners, if internal sentiment keeps shifting away from Nutminijad, and a less radical government emerges. |
