Time for a McJob
Hello 2+2...
I have a problem with viewing my poker decisions objectively so i wanted to ask the Stt Forum of their opinion. Over the past couple of years I have become an extremely proficient Sng player (St. lucifer 9% roi) and when focused, can beat them regularly. Before I begin let me tell you that I am not very financially endowed (Poor Student / No parental help) and have been working and playing low stakes sng's to support myself. The problem is I am cashing out significant ammounts of my bankroll to do so. I work around 10 hours a week and hate doing so when I know I can make more money faster playing poker. I am quite confident that I would be able do very well with a 1000 initial bankroll playing 5 20's at a time. In order to achieve this initial bankroll I have decided to take time off from poker and work hard doing office work etc..for about a month to two months. Once obtaining the roll and with the rush the making a significant amount of money I know I will be shooting to make at least $1000 a week. That is what i think. Is this unrealistic in any way?? or do you see any pitfalls in my plan? Thanks all |

Re: Time for a McJob
i think that you should quit your job after your next paycheck. after that i think you should grind hard and set up a schedule regarding your play/study/review of poker. make sure you pay your bills before you spend any money, next comes food.
after all of that is taken care of, you become your own boss and gain a freedom not a single of your peers yet know. do not take it for granted. |

Re: Time for a McJob
Bankroll should be $2000 if you're going to play 20s

St. lucifer 9% roi [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] at least $1000 a week [/ QUOTE ] $1000 = $22*.09*510 games [ QUOTE ] playing 5 20's at a time [/ QUOTE ] Assuming turbos, I'd say you can average 7.5/hour as a rough estimation. It will take you about 10 hours a day, seven days a week to make $1000. |

I have no way of figuring out what my roi is for only those games unfortunatly. |

Re: Time for a McJob
I was just assuming that was your roi for the games you plan on playing. I'd suggest to learn to play more tables before you stop having any other source of income.

Also, I'd suggest to try playing as much as you can while still having a job to see if playing poker for hours everyday is something you can do.

Re: Time for a McJob
[censored] that, don't keep the job.
job's suck. we're all intelligent people that seldom see eye to eye with one another. your boss wants you to do [censored] that you don't want to do, you may be smarter than he/she. [censored] them. you have the potential to be your own boss. do it. |
